Obituary For Bean Hammond

On April 14th, 2022, beloved pet/family member, 5-month-old ferret, Bean Hammond crossed Rainbow Bridge. Bean was born on November 9th, 2021, and at the age of 6 weeks, she came to live with her human family on Christmas Eve 2021. She is survived by “pet parents” Lisaann and Lillyann, aunts Faith, Rose, and Diane, who helped in caring for her, as she required 24 hours round the clock care after being diagnosed with DIM (Disseminated Idiopathic Myositis) and had to receive weekly chemo treatments. Bean’s best friends were brother ferrets, Taz and Caesar, sister cat London, who she had a loving relationship with, and mom Lisaann. Her favorite toys were crinkly mats, crinkly bags and Buzzballs. She was learning to play her floor piano before she became ill. Bean disliked having to stay by herself. She always wanted company and would yell for someone once she woke up. Her favorite place to sleep was in her blue, rose cabana bed made by her aunt Rose or her soft blue sleep sack made by her mom Lisaann. Bean was not a picky eater. She enjoyed eating her nibble blend along with her favorite Steller and Chewy freeze-dried chicken or duck. Bean was the youngest and the smallest ferret to ever be diagnosed with DIM. She was so touch, fighting week after week. She became very well known in the ferret community far and wide, with so many people routing for her. Many sent in donations towards her care, and she wanted everyone to know how grateful she was and that she loves you all. Mom Lisaann would also like to thank Diane from South Shore Ferret Care Rescue and Hospice, Inc, and to Faith for helping with Bean’s nursing care. She sends many ferret kisses to all. Finally, as she is making her last step on Rainbow Bridge, she wanted to thank Jennifer for taking such great final care to bring her there.
