In Loving Memory of Anastasia “Annie” Bruscato

Anastasia Bruscato, lovingly known as Annie, was a beautiful Short Hair Domestic cat who was rescued as a tiny kitten in April of 2013 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. At just three days old, Annie was rescued alongside her three gray kittens, and what began as a plan to find her kittens loving homes and eventually return Annie outdoors became something much more meaningful. More than 13 years later, Annie had become a beloved and faithful companion who would remain by her family’s side until the very end.

Annie was deeply loved by her human, Linda Bruscato, and shared her home with her step-sister, Scooby. Linda was Annie’s best friend and the person who gave her the safe, loving home she had come to cherish.

Annie had a special way of enjoying the simple comforts of life. She loved sleeping in her heated beds, especially the one positioned in front of the small window, where she could watch the world go by. She also loved curling up on the carpeted stool beside Linda while Linda worked, content simply to be near her favorite person.

When she wasn't sleeping, Annie could often be found sitting in an open window, safely taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of the great outdoors from a comfortable distance. She loved chasing the laser and enjoyed playing with a catnip pouch. And, of course, she had her favorite treats—chicken Churu and “crunchies” dry food.

There were a few things Annie was decidedly less fond of. Her step-sister Scooby and vacuum cleaners were certainly not on her list of favorites!

But Annie's greatest gift was the love she gave in return for the second chance she had been given. She entered Linda’s life as a tiny rescued kitten and somehow, over the years, became so much more than a rescue. She became family. She became a constant presence, a cherished companion, and a loving part of everyday life.

After more than 13 wonderful years together, Annie passed away on September 3, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a home that will feel a little quieter without her.

Her story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes, when we set out to save an animal, they end up saving a piece of us instead.
