Obituary For Ginger Cote

In Loving Memory of Ginger “Gingie” Cote

Ginger, lovingly known as “Gingie,” passed away on August 6, 2026, at the age of 8. Adopted in 2018, Ginger quickly became a beloved member of the Cote family and brought years of warmth, comfort, and joy to her pet parents, Meghan and Alex.

A sweet and spirited guinea pig, Ginger had a personality all her own. She loved cardboard, her cozy cuddle sack, quiet naps, and spending time tucked under a blanket or resting in her pink hideout. Her favorite treats were fruits and vegetables, especially blueberries and carrots, and she never missed the chance to enjoy a snack.

Ginger shared her home and her heart with her fur sister, Ellie, and her guinea pig sisters, Frankie and Basil. She outlived Frankie and Basil and, in her later years, seemed to enjoy having all the snacks and toys to herself. Ginger’s best friends included Ellie, Frankie, and Basil, each of whom was part of the little world she made so special.

One of Ginger’s most cherished routines was dinner time. Whenever Ellie began eating, Ginger would start squeaking, knowing that meant she was next to receive her fruits and veggies. She always knew when it was her turn, and her happy little voice became a familiar and treasured sound in the home.

While Ginger did not love having her nails clipped, she tolerated it with remarkable patience as long as a special treat was involved. Like so many of her habits, it became another reminder of her gentle nature, her charm, and the small ways she made everyday moments memorable.

Ginger was there through many meaningful chapters of life. She was by Meghan’s side after college, moved with her into her first apartment, came along as Meghan and Alex settled into their first home, and was there to welcome Ellie into the family. Through seasons of change, Ginger remained a steady, comforting presence.

Ginger will be remembered for her sweetness, her squeaks, her love of snacks, and the quiet companionship she gave so freely. Her family feels incredibly lucky to have shared so many years with her, and she will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
