Obituary For Jack Jack & Nox Diggle

Some bonds are so special they cannot be measured by time alone. Jack Jack and Nox, beloved American Shorthair brothers, shared a lifetime of companionship, love and playful mischief.

Born in the Spring of 2012, the two brothers found their forever home with Karen Diggle and Stephen Silva when they were just six months old. Unknow to Karen and Stephen at the time, the kittens had been born in the rental house they had moved into. After seeing the difficult conditions they were living in, they opened their hearts and their home to the young brothers. When the family moved two years later, there was never any question Jack Jack and Nox were coming too.

Jack Jack had a way of choosing his people. One day, he jumped onto the hood of the car and let out a heartfelt meow. As Karen stopped what she was doing and walked over to give him a scratch behind the ears, she realized that was the moment everything changed. Jack Jack had decided she was his human, and from that day forward, he never had to wonder where his next meal, shelter or love would come from. Stephen would signal Jack Jack from his electric wheelchair and he would jump onto Stephen's lap and speed around the yard and driveway with him. It was surprising how comfortable he was with it.

Nox's story was just as memorable. In the early days, hunger had taught him to be cautious and it took time before he trusted that food would always be waiting for him. One unforgettable morning, Karen looked out the back bay window just in time to see Nox racing across the yard at full speed before sliding across the kitchen floor as he hurried toward breakfast. It was not uncommon to see Nox sitting under the hood of the car as Stephen worked on the engine.

The brothers were inseparable. Their favorite pastime was wrestling with one another. About the only thing they could agree on was they disliked having their nails trimmed.

In March 2025, Jack Jack peacefully passed away from heart failure. Nox carried on for another year and four months before passing away on July 26, 2026, reunited again with his lifelong companion.

Though the house is quieter now, the love Jack Jack and Nox gave will remain forever. They leave behind countless happy memories and the comforting thought that after all this time apart, two brothers are together once again.
