Jack, affectionately known as Bubba, was a handsome long-haired tabby cat who graced the lives of his family for 14 wonderful years. Born in April 2012, in a barn in Massachusetts, Jack passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, love and more than a little mischief.

Jack was deeply loved by his parents, Terry and Ryan Medeiros, and his sister, Ginny, who was born in the same litter. He also shared a special bond with his best friends, Riley and Ryan. Jack followed Ryan everywhere, like a shadow, and their connection was truly one of a kind.

From the beginning, Jack was the protector of the family - and without questions, the alpha cat. He was always the first to investigate new people, try new food, and set the pace for playtime. He preferred to be held like a football and was always happy to snuggle with whoever happened to be relaxing on the couch.

Jack had a personality all his own and often seemed to believe he was actually a dog. His favorite toys included crinkle balls, tinfoil, and wooden sticks that rolled across the floor. He loved lounging in front of a fan or air conditioner, but perhaps most surprisingly, Jack loved jumping into a running shower proving once and for all that not every cat is afraid of water.

His least favorite things were an empty food bowl and having his nails trimmed. His favorite sleeping spots were the corner of Ryan's bed at night and the corner of the couch during the day. When it came to food, Jack believed that anything his humans were eating was automatically meant to be shared with him. He loved bacon, ham, hummus, tabbouleh, sweet bread, and just about anything else he could get his little face into. He was especially talented at stealing sweet bread right off someone's plate.

Jack was also a dedicated plant and flower enthusiast - though perhaps not in the way his family would have preferred. He loved chewing on spider plants, forcing all of them to be hung from the windows where he would still manage to knock them down so he could enjoy the leaves and play in the dirt. He also adored fresh flowers and knocked over nearly every vase that ever entered the house. Roses were especially exciting, as Jack would rip them right off their stems and bat them around the room.

He had a mischievous way of making sure his feelings were known. During a period when Ryan was working extended hours, Jack became so upset by his absence that he would go into Ryan's room and poop on his pillow - a memorable, if unconventional way of saying, “I missed you.”

Jack was much more than a pet. He was a beloved companion, a loyal shadow, a snuggler, a food thief, a flower destroyer, a plant chewer and the unmistakable alpha cat of this family.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
