Obituary For Katie Binks Murphy
Katie Binks, beloved American Labrador Retriever of John and Anne-Marie Murphy, crossed the rainbow bridge peacefully on February 25th 2018 at the age of 14 years 23 days. She leaves behind her human parents, Anne-Marie and John, her human siblings David and Adam, her litter mate Olive U, big sister the late Sandy Cheeks Waterwalker, and her cats Zippy and LU.
Katie Binks was born at the Harrison Kennel in Trinity Alabama on February 3 of 2004. She was lovingly also known as Katie, Binks, Katie B, B, BB, The Binks, Jar Jar Binks, and Good Girl. She leaves behind her best friends, the late Sandy Cheeks, John, Anne, Nancy and Emily, Coach Carron, the wonderful janitors and grounds keepers at Ponaganset High School. Katie enjoyed walking on the trail and training every day in the field with John, Sandy and Olive, swimming in the pond and at the pool. She was truly a lab and at her best she was soaking wet. She loved rolling around in the fields deer poop and dead snakes and was always proud to wear the smell. Fetching and finding were always favorites of hers. She thoroughly enjoyed visiting and playing with the children at the school, blind finds in the woods, and being anywhere she could just take in all the smells of nature.
Among her favorite things, were her favorite toys, any tennis ball that was thrown very far, Frisbees thrown high enough to catch in mid-air, and anything thrown into a body of water. Her favorite places to sleep included anywhere Sandy Cheeks was sleeping, she loved her sister dearly. She felt most comfortable while lying next to and touching Sandy or anyone who was laying on the floor (except Olive). Katie was not a fan of other dogs taking her food, although she loved eating anything that John was eating and moms expensive cat food.
The Binks was Johns love bug, she loved hugs and loved being touched. Even from a puppy, Katie had a real love for people. When we opened the kennel door, the other puppies would run to the food, but Katie Binks always ran to the people first. It was this trait that told us she was a keeper. She knew the other dogs would eat her food, but she really didnt care because John would always get her more. Katie loved to run full out in the field, when she was in full stride I would always stop and watch in awe, she was pure poetry in motion. Katie Binks would always make us smile, and she was always our best friend. Thank you BB, I will miss you and love you every day and forever, LOVE LOVE LOVE.
