On February 2nd, 2022, beloved pet/family member, 8-year-old Abyssinian Guinea Pig, Opie Barber crossed Rainbow Bridge. Pet parents Retha Barber and Darlene Barber welcomed Opie home in 2014 in Rhode Island. Opie is predeceased by his older brother Charlie and younger brother Chibs. His friends consisted of former dogs Briscoe and Jelly, and introduced recently to Betty, and intriguingly by Smush the cat. Opie's favorite activities were snuggling and peeing. He disliked having to take baths. When not enjoying his favorite activities, you could find him sleeping in his favorite place; in his blankie. Opie loved eating strawberries and flat parsley. With his unique coloring and personality, Opie was a joy for his eight long Guinea pig years. A rebellious teenager, he tussled with is older brother, but their dynamic was soothed when they became a trio. Over the years Opie grew to be a sweet and loving old man. He loved his hay and fresh food every day and loved snuggles with his mum. He was an amazing support animal during many hard times and loved wholeheartedly. Never a biter, he preferred to lick your hands or arms, made snuffles of satisfaction as well as an amusing pout when he wasn't happy. He fought the disease of growing old begrudgingly, yet gracefully and will be truly missed.
