Obituary For Rocky Rosa

My pet Rocky's story…

Rocky was a short hair domestic cat who lived to be 18 years old. He was adopted from Craigslist, though the exact date is not remembered, and he spent his life in Fall River, MA. He passed away on 8/9/2026, leaving behind a deep and lasting imprint on everyone who knew him.

Rocky was known simply as “Rocky”—no fancy nicknames, just a name that fit him perfectly. He was part of a small but loving family that included his human siblings and companions. He had once shared his life with Butterball, another cat who passed away three years earlier. He was especially close to Giovanni, the son of the family, who was truly his best friend. Rocky also met Ashy, the family’s newer female cat, and the two were able to share a year together. His closest bonds were with Ashy, Giovanni, and Jessica, his mom, who all meant the world to him.

Rocky’s favorite toys were catnip-filled birds and lizards, and he had a sweet habit of bringing them to Jessica’s bed in the middle of the night as little gifts. He loved playing with his toys and with Ashy, but just as much, he loved quiet moments of cuddling with Jessica and Giovanni. Being close to his family was what made him happiest.

He was afraid of the outdoors and never liked water, and he wasn’t particularly fond of the household’s six green-cheek conures. But inside his home, he was completely at ease. He loved sleeping in Giovanni’s bed or curled up in his cat tree, always choosing the coziest, safest spots.

Rocky loved soft food, especially because he had no teeth, and he never turned down a meal. He was a little chubby in the most endearing way, and he truly enjoyed eating.

More than anything, Rocky was remembered as the biggest love bug anyone could ever meet. His eyes were always wide and dilated, not from excitement or zoomies, but simply because that was how he was. He never showed aggression—not even at the vet. Instead, he would come running when called and greet everyone with gentle headbutts, as if he was constantly saying hello to the world.

When Ashy joined the family, Rocky welcomed her with the same curiosity and affection he showed everyone. Even when she was scared and defensive, as new cats often are, he never gave up on her. He continued to try to be her friend, playing with her and loving her in his patient, gentle way, even in his older years.

Rocky was soft, kind, and truly one of a kind. He had a way of making everyone feel loved and safe, and his presence brought comfort and joy to the entire family. He was never just a pet—he was family, a best friend, and a deeply cherished part of their lives.

He was just Rocky, and that was more than enough. ❤️
