Obituary For Tumbles Beirola
Tumbles, aka: Tummy Tum Tums
Tumbles was adopted by Teresa Beirola in 2007 from local MinPin Rescue. Not much is known about her previous life but, it was clear that she did not trust many people. Teresa won her over with treats and they formed a beautiful connection until Teresa’s passing in 2011. Teresa’s adult daughter Jen, loved Tumbles and was happy to take her in as part of the family. In 2014, Jen added an English Bulldog puppy “Betty” to their pack. Tumbles raised Betty as if she was her own puppy. They grew to be the best of friends and faithful companions.
Tumbles was an excellent judge of character. She was friendly to other animals and formed many strong human connections over the years. She made sure that everyone knew, she was the boss bitch. She took charge of ensuring that no horseplay, high-fiving, knee slapping or clapping happened on her watch. She did not have any teeth but, she was not afraid to give a corrective gumming. The best was when she would jump out and catch Jen’s friends off guard. Most that knew and loved Tumbles had “gotten the gums” at least once.
Tumbles favorite place to sleep was cuddled in Jen’s right armpit. When that spot was not available she would find a place to burrow typically with Betty. Visitors to the house were warned to walk and sit lightly for they would never know if the little dog was underneath a blanket, laundry, tucked inside of a pillow case,… Over the years Tumbles hearing became more and more selective and finding her became a game of hide and seek.
Tumbles loved to be included and was a fantastic companion. She was very tolerant and perhaps even enjoyed dressing in holiday costumes. She enjoyed long walks, bicycle and kayak rides, airplane trips, and she especially loved to nap in the sun. She woke her humans up to hugs and rapid nibbles lovingly referred to as “The Corn Cob” Once out of bed, she would do spins and coo her way into the kitchen directing her people to food dish, In the beginning Jen’s cooking gave Tumbles anxiety, do to an overly sensitive smoke detector. Later in life, Tumbles learned to become quite fond of Jen’s cooking and would only eat home cooked meals prepared especially for her that would vary from week to week.
We believe that Tumbles was 17 or 18 years old. She was one of a kind and will be missed dearly.
